Seemingly sharing a heritage with the hidden cinema of Folkestone, this is tantalisingly signposted and on an obscure corner past the Astor theatre. The sole member of staff / management was excellent: she was extremely friendly and helpful. Some excellent exhibits including film posters for some of the great old British films (see photos). You can spend a fair amount of time watching clips of old films; it was good to see bits of Whisky Galore and Ladykillers again. There could possibly be more effort into the commercial angle, there surely is room for flogging more souvenirs to the punters and their families. Highly recommended, will visit again.
I highly recommend a visit for anyone interested in the history of film. David and Joss have created something wonderful and seemed more than happy to sit and chat (lovely, fascinating people!), the entrance fee covers a whole year, all for the bargain price of 5.50. Don't be put off by the nondescript exterior, this place is an absolute gem.
